Coolio Performance

In my previous post on building Coolio, I covered the construction. Now for the bit that matters: what did it actually do for temperatures and noise?
CPU temperature
The CPU temperature went from 56.2°C to 36.4°C. That’s a drop of 19.8°C - a 35% drop, which is substantial enough that I don’t need to squint at a graph to call it an improvement.
Here’s the before-and-after reading:

Fan speeds
The reported fan speed dropped from 2234 RPM to 0 RPM. That zero needs a bit of context: it doesn’t mean the setup is running without fans. The four Noctua fans are running at 75%, and they’re whisper quiet.

That’s the result I wanted from Coolio. A much cooler CPU is nice on its own; getting there without a racket is the part I notice when I’m sitting nearby.
